now is the heart shaped cloud
december crisp time to curl into each other’s curves
share body heat
and plant our dream seeds
wood smoke and cedar boughs and light
now is the umbrella tree
rain pooling mud in our boots
soakers and kelp forests
we meet our reflections in tide pools
and whisper secrets on the beach
now is the new moon
we wrap our arms around the darkness
lips search for each other’s taste
to breathe in your scent
is to feel the tide’s pull, inevitable
now is the solstice
we light candles and give thanks
gratitude for all to come
you reach out for my hand and clasp it to your heart
i say, run now, if you want, but if you stay
don’t look back
