Macro & Close-Up Photography: An Outdoor Workshop at UCSC Arboretum

Focus your lens on the small details of life and be prepared to look at the world around you in a whole new way! Enjoy a day outdoors at UCSC Arboretum where we will enjoy focusing our lenses on the extraordinary details found in the extensive gardens and rare plant collections. You can use a cell phone, point and shoot or DSLR camera during the workshop. We will review the unique aspects of macro photography: tools, lighting, focusing approaches, as well as creative composition techniques.

Writing to Feed the Inner Self: A Poetry Writing Workshop

Poets unite! Explore the beauty and power of poetry in this highly interactive writing workshop. Whether you're an aspiring poet or have a regular writing practice established, this workshop will invigorate your creative spirit and give you the confidence and practical skills required to form healthy writing habits for a lifetime.

Blurring the Lines: A Creative Poetry and Photography Retreat

Break out of your routine and give yourself the gift of creative space as you explore and grow in wildly different directions in this retreat-style workshop. In highly immersive sessions, you'll learn techniques to connect with your inner poetic voice, and begin to combine poetry and photography to express your creative vision. Exploring guided poetry-writing, journaling, and photography, you'll leave with the beginnings of an inspired art journal that incorporates the power of your own words and images. No writing or photography experience is necessary, and you may use your cell phone or camera for photographs.
